Minimum Security Inmate Escape
Monday, September 8, 2008 12:00 PM
For Immediate Release:
A Sutter County Jail inmate walked out of the Minimum Security Facility at an unknown time between bed check and the 6:00 am head count. A complete head count of the Minimum Security inmates housed in the facility confirmed that an inmate was missing from the male dormitory.
The inmate is identified as Victor Mendoza NILA, a Hispanic male, age 40, 5-8, 165, black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing inmate clothing which consisted of a green shirt, and green and white striped pants. He is a Yuba City resident. Nila was in custody for violation of probation with a release date of 09/12/2008, however his release was held pending an INS check. His violation of probation stemmed from an original charge of Domestic Violence that occurred in April of 2007 where he had already served his sentence of 40 days in jail in April and May of 2007.
It is possible that Nila is traveling with his family. Jail records revealed that Nila’s wife had visited him at jail on more than one occasion in the last week. A possible vehicle that Nila may have access to is described as a 1990’s Ford Minivan, Green and Grey in color. Patrol and Detectives are actively searching for Nila at this time and an attempt to locate has been broadcast to agencies throughout the State.
A complaint charging Nila with escape will be forwarded to the Sutter County District Attorney for a warrant of arrest. Nila’s minimum security privileges have been suspended and he will be placed in the Maximum Security Unit upon his return to custody.
Anyone with information concerning Nila’s location is asked to call the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department at (530) 822-7307, or your local law enforcement agency.
