Dead Infant Found along Sacramento River

On Wednesday, September 9, 2009, Sutter County Sheriff’s detectives recovered the body of an infant along the water bank of the Sacramento River.
The Sheriff’s Department received a call around 6:20 p.m. by an Antelope man who was walking along the river and discovered the infant on the east bank of the river in the 6900 block of Garden Highway, approximately ¼ mile south of Vernon Avenue.
It’s unknown how long the baby was in the water and whether the baby was stillborn or died before it went into the water. An autopsy is scheduled this morning.
Investigators are back on scene today checking the area for any signs that might help them to determine the circumstances of this case.
