For Immediate Release:
Sheriff J. Paul Parker invites all Sutter County residents to join the men and women of the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department in participating in the 27th Annual National Night Out (NNO) crime and drug prevention event on Tuesday, August 3, 2010.
National Night Out is “America’s Night Out Against Crime” and has grown from 2.5 million participants in its first year to over 36 million last year. Over 15,000 communities participated last year alone in an effort to heighten crime and drug awareness and strengthen neighborhood spirit and law enforcement community partnerships. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department.
National Night Out provides an opportunity to meet neighbors, strengthen the community, and fight crime. From 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. on August 3rd, residents in neighborhoods throughout Sutter County and Live Oak and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Live Oak and Sutter County will be hosting a variety of special events such as, block parties, cookouts, youth activities, and visits from law enforcement.
Sheriff J. Paul Parker and his command staff, along with the Sutter County K-9 unit, Boat Patrol, Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT), Divers and Live Oak Fire Department will be visiting the neighborhoods during this event.
