Fatal Stabbing in Sutter

On Sunday, July 24, 2011, at approximately 8:21 P.M., Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a possible stabbing victim at the Sutter Food and Gas at 7505 Highway 20 in Sutter. Deputies and Paramedics arrived at the scene and found a male victim with stab wounds to the body. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed that the victim entered the store and three other males entered the store after him. When the victim left the store, two of the three males followed the victim outside. According to witnesses the victim ran around the outside of the store with the other males chasing him. The victim staggered in front of the store and then collapsed. The suspect males then fled the scene.
During the investigation, detectives were able to identify one of the suspects involved in this incident. Hector Alvaro Baca, 30 years old of Sutter was arrested and booked into Sutter County Jail on the charge of homicide. He is being held without bail.
Identification of the victim will be made available once the next of kin has been notified.
