For Immediate Release:
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office and Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar teamed up together July 20, 2011 in the annual “Tip-A-Cop” fundraiser for Special Olympics. Teams of sheriff’s deputies led by Captain Lewis McElfresh and Captain Dave Samson worked shifts during the lunch and dinner hours at the Yuba City restaurant assisting the servers with serving non-alcoholic beverages, setting and clearing tables, seating guests and collecting tips for Special Olympics from restaurant patrons.
The combined tips collected for Special Olympics during the two shifts totaled $1,408.00.
The continued support for this program has helped the program provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with developmental disabilities by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
We are extremely pleased with the continued support of the Yuba/Sutter/Colusa Special Olympics and “Sharing the Joy” of our athletes and volunteers.
