Officer Involved Shooting

At approximately 1:27 pm today, Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of an assault or suicide attempt in the 4700 block of Broadway, Live Oak.
Upon arrival at the location deputies located a female inside a residence and a male subject armed with a pistol. The deputies gave the male subject several orders to move away from the weapon. The male subject failed to comply with the orders. Deputies first deployed a taser which failed to stop the subject. The subject, armed with the pistol, then charged the deputies and the deputies fired their service weapon striking the suspect.
Suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputies were not injured during this incident. In accordance with the Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures, the deputies will be placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Sutter County District Attorney’s Office was notified and will be conducting the investigation and will be assisted by the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a separate, administrative investigation into the shooting.
