deputy at the Jail Lobby. Provide the entire amount of the bail via the following: U.S. currency,
cashier check, or money order.
No personal checks will be accepted.
Cashier checks or money orders must be made out to "Sutter County Consolidated Courts".
You can also post bail for an inmate by using a bail bond agency.
INMATE RELEASE PROCEDURES
After the sentence terms are entered in the computer for a sentenced inmate, it calculates
a release date. The release date is provided to the inmate. When an inmate is due for release
from custody, they are processed out of the facility at 5:00am of the morning they are due to
be released and released into the front lobby of the Sheriff’s Office.
Inmates held for further court proceedings and duly released by the courts from arraignment or
pre-trial confinement are returned to the jail from the court house at varied times. These
inmates are released from custody as timely as possible. Depending on jail operations, all court
releases are completed by 7:00 pm each evening.
PROPERTY RELEASE PROCEDURES
All property held for an inmate at the Sutter County Jail will be returned to the inmate
when they are released from custody. Items left over 90 days after an inmate’s release will
be destroyed or otherwise disposed of.
Generally, inmates are not allowed to release their personal property while in custody,
unless they are sentenced to state prison. In that case, they may release their personal
property in advance of their transport to prison, but must do so during the inmate’s
or by appointment during normal business
hours (Monday-Friday 0800-1700 hrs.)
Upon receipt of a property release request, signed by an inmate and verified by jail staff,
the personal property shall be retrieved from the inmate’s property and released to the
designated person only. The designee must produce a valid photo ID in order to receive the property.
Inmates will not be allowed to release shoes or clothing items deemed necessary for transportation
to another facility or necessary for release.
If the property of an inmate committed to state prison is not released prior to transportation,
said property will accompany the inmate to state prison. No inmate property is intentionally
held after an inmate is released.
If the inmate has a remaining account balance on their account, the releasing officer will issue
a check from the prisoner’s cash fund account upon release.
